Laughing at the Credit Crunch
Here is a little experiment that you will find intersting and funny:
Unless you’ve been in a cave, you are probably aware that the stock market has been, well, crashing. This has been blamed on banks buying lots of risky mortgage-based equities only to see the housing market collapse. Now the banks don’t want to lend any money out, not even to each other. This makes it very tough on businesses, which rely on credit to get them through short term cash flow problems.
As a joke, I applied for an American Express Card yesterday. My credit is good, but I have a lot of outstanding debt at the moment – let’s say 80% of my credit is being used. Couple that with the fact that the stock markets all around the world crashed again yesterday because of global credit problems. I should have been laughed at, but instead I was given a credit line of $2,500 after only 30 seconds of consideration. God bless America!
So here is a solution for all you banks out there: don’t worry about borrowing from other banks, just get money from American Express - they obviously still have plenty to toss out the window.
Maybe I'll try for a Visa Gold Card today.
