Random Happy Thought of the Day
Yes, this just came to me as a random thought.......
Remember all those asteroid / giant meteor strikes earth, kills most or destroys earth all together movies.
The odds of a direct hit is, well, actually astronomical. The universe has existed for just a weeee bit longer than us meat-bags. The universe has patience, in a realm of eternal existance one billion years is like nothing. An aweful lot can happen on a billion years. Religions are so damned self centered with arrogant assumptions like the earth being the center of the universe. If they thought about it logically, how could "god" revolve around us earthlings. So their rationale is flawed, every diety is the center, not the subjects. SO kids, if you dont know what your doing, please do not try to mix religion and science. You will likely damage yourself, be happy in your faith if it makes you happy, but be warned, do not delve into real science if you do not want to be dissapointed. For those who have difficulty dealing with reality, stay away from science.
Anyway, getting back on track here. We are not alone, there are eight other planets (oldskool). If any one planet was struck, we are all screwed, eventually. Given enough time, some of that debris will move into Earth's orbit. It would be like a shotgun blast pelting everthing in it's path. What if underneath the giant crater in the Arizona desert, lies a huge chunk of Venus or Jupiter. I would bet money that bits and pieces from one or more of our fellow planets is our peanut butter.
