George Carlin - A legend passes away

George Carlin died yesterday of heart failure. Funny how I’ve been reading some of his books lately and thought it would be fun to go see him again. I have fond memories of the time my brother, sister-in-law, B (“Linden? I’m not Linden”), Dissident and I went to see him.

Among his unforgettable routines, his “Seven Words” got most publicity. When that skit was aired it led to a Supreme Court decision regarding the broadcasting of offensive language.
Carlin said, “So my name is a footnote in American legal history, which I’m perversely kind of proud of.”
Too many great quotes to list, but among my favorites are

“One good reason for maintaining only a small circle of friends is that three out of four murders are committed by people who know the victim.”

“When you look at the average American you realize there’s nothing nature enjoys more than a good joke.”    How true!

George, we’ll miss you.
Blessed Be.
