What I learned at church and watching Ghost in the Shell.
What I learned at church and watching Ghost in the Shell.
Lets pretend we all believe in the principle beliefs of the abrahamic religions. Stop whining and pretend damn you! There will be no permanent damage, I swear to god. If it will help put you in the right mindset and minimize any anxiety, lets just say you are playing "the devils advocate". hehehehe
1) God created everything from nothing = True
2) If only God existed then, God made everything from himself. Physics has demonstrated thus far that matter can not be created nor destroyed...by man at least.
3) Einstein created the big bang theory = True
4) In binary logic, things are either true or false, on/off open/closed one or zero. empty/not-empty if not empty is part empty the same as full, No. If part empty is it 1 or 0 with 0 being empty. If more than 0 not empty = 1
5) If God created the universe from nothing, an empty universe, then the universe is zero. but if god is in the universe then that ruins the equation.
6) does god exist in the universe? or is god outside the universe looking in?
7) Either way, god was everything, because other than god there was nothing.
8) God must have created the universe from god. meaning that god used himself, or part of it, to create the universe, the heavens and the earth.
9) if the universe is nothing, then universe = 0
If nothing, then nothing is a void, empty = 0
10) if god is not 0, god is 1
God is a singularity
God = 1
If 0 is nothing then God is everything.
Hi God ![]()

Hmm... using boolean logic to prove the existence of god.
I guess there is no way it could go different if you start from the flawed notion that God exists.
"Smart people are great at rationalizing things they came to believe for dumb reasons". - Scientist on Penn and Tellers The bible is bullshit.
FYI, the big bang theory was actually developed by Georges LemaƮtre (oddly enough a Belgium roman catholic priest) by predicting the movement of a nebulae. He even suggested that the universe began as a "primeval atom".
Not bad for a devout man of the cloth.
The term was coined by Fred Hoyle, who was actually making fun of the theory.
So it's interesting in this particular case that the idea was proposed by a Priest and rejecter by an astronomer.
Well, we can't be right all the time or else God = Me.

Diss..
As a practicale matter, you actually got the point, but idelogocaly, you managed to miss the point.
I'm afraid that the same phenomenon which infects devout catholics, muslims and jews conversly also afflicts the scientificaly minded.
The Zen of the Box
Rather than taking a polarized position and choosing sides, which will ultimatly force other to choose sides. Take some risks and think out side the box, think inside the box and be the box.
While the boolean logic is binary as related to the "creator", the universe itself and it's collective contents are analog.
Remember B's article where he asks what other things will mankind look back on and say " wow, were we ever stooopid" , well, this may be one of those things.
Anyway, when the Golden Ass Monkey reveals himself, all will be known.

Of course I missed the point ideologically. I'm an atheist and following the logic to reach the conclusion is to look from the point of a believer.
I can put myself in those shoes to follow their argument, however I still know their wrong.
About choosing sides though. You have to in a manner unless your agnostic. You believe in the guy, or you don't. I don't, simple to the point, end of story. If you can't decide what you believe, that just seems wishy washy and indecisive. No judgements mind you just my personal view.
