Should've stayed in bed....

…it is not my day. We recently rearranged our bedroom and if the dog isn’t sleeping in the bed (taking up 2/3 of it) he likes to sleep right by the bedroom door. But as I groggily awake at 5 a.m. that’s the last thing in my mind. Trying to get my bearings as I shuffle to the door, I tripped over a 170+lbs. Bull Mastiff. One arm instinctively shot up to protect myself from the fall, but to no avail. I slammed my face into the wall and ended up with a bloody nose. Not a good start.  I was no longer concerned with silence – I didn’t care who I woke up. But the loyal dog slept through my bitching.

I put on some coffee while I showered only to discover when I got out that I forgot to put the coffee in the machine. Another bad move. I didn’t get called for work which wasn’t too surprising – January is a slow month. A complete waste of make-up and mousse.

I figured at least I can get things done. I somehow misplaced my inhaler (I swear there’s a poltergeist in the house) so my run was delayed during my twenty minute search. Then, during my second morning shower as I mentally planned what needs to get done, I get shampoo in my eye. At this point I’m ready to call it quits! But that wouldn’t be fun. Let’s see what other challenges the day has to offer.

Doing the laundry would be productive (and relatively safe!) But of course there was no Snuggle. Alright, off to the grocery store. Had to do some shopping, anyway and mail some letters. Since I didn’t feel like blow-drying my hair again I just stuck on a cap. A huge gust of wind came through the post office parking lot just as I stepped out of my car and took my hat. Thankfully a nearby shrub caught it. I would’ve cried if I lost it – it was one of my Giants caps.

Okay, last stop, Foodtown. No mishaps inside the store. I half expected the shopping cart to fall apart on me.  As, I was putting the groceries in the trunk the wind blew the trunk shut. I quietly whispered, “Shit,” then said it quite a bit louder when I couldn’t find my keys. Phew. They were in my pocket. I was almost done when the wind tried to slam it shut again. Fortunately my head was there to block it.

That was it. My day was done. I’m home and I’m not leaving again. Maybe I’ll just curl up under the covers until tomorrow…

Sorry about your day, Storm. Hopefully you are safely under your covers now, but not all the way because you might suffocate. On the bright side, I did get a big laugh at your misfortunes - thanks for posting!

Maybe I do have some German in me after all.
